Obama's Katrina - DeepWater Horizon

It is as I feared. Just as Bush didn't give a damn about what happened when a category 5 hurricane, Katrina, plowed into the southern states and devastated New Orleans so now we have Obama doing the same thing, but far worse, with the massive oil spill off the coast of the Gulf of Mexico. He has let BP take six weeks so far to plug a well from an explosion that clearly came due to their cost cutting, due to their lack of concern for the grunts on the rig or the people and wildlife, due to the complete paid off government MMS who let them build with impunity, and due to the bought for blindness of the Federal government who's supposed to regulate the oil companies.

Just like Bush, Obama doesn't give a damn about the working people. The people along the Gulf, the fishermen, the boating businesses, the tourism trade, and just the people who live there, will be suffering this disaster for many years to come. The wildlife, some of our most precious wetlands, will be totally devastated for decades. And what is Obama doing to BP for this?

Not one damn thing. Nothing. "They are the experts, they are the only ones that can stop this." Obama has said.

That is the biggest lie in the world. And it is spread by one of the best liars to take office. BP are the experts? The same "experts" that said the drilling was safe. The "experts" that said this could never happen. The same "experts" who I'm sure are trying to save just as much money as they did in building the rig. The same "experts" who let workers die due to negligence and who are doing nothing to help the people suffering and about to suffer long term financial hardship.

Obama has given the murderer a pass AND let him go into the crowded mall with a machine gun.

We are supposed to be the most advanced nation in the world. We are supposed to be able to resolve crisis better than anyone. Yet we still have Katrina victims living in trailers, abandoned homes, mold problems all around New Orleans, the dikes still have not been fixed, and it's still a great embarrassment. Now we have DeepWater Horizon, and we have to let the company that created the disaster be the one to fix it. We won't see their CEO and officers in the muck and mire cleaning up the ocean shores. We won't see those arrogant, filthy rich pigs offering up their bonuses to cover the devastated lives of the working people along the Gulf. And the USA will again be shown as nothing more than a nation that is embarrassing in how it cares for it's people, but how our government loves to care for it's corporations.

Here's what should be done, and should have been done from day one:

First, as soon as the explosion happened the President and Fed should have had people right there, in the Gulf to ascertain the situation, not waited and relied on the word of the damn company.

Second, once the severity of the leak was realized by those people (again not the damn company) then the best scientific minds in the world should have been called in to work out what to do to stop it.

Third, knowing this would be devastating to the working people along the Gulf, the government should have started fines for BP based on the millions in losses to be paid exclusively to the people affected.

Fourth, when the fault was clearly noted as BPs and that those workers were essentially murdered and the Gulf was destroyed due to their actions, the executives of BP should have had all their assets seized to be sold to help the families of those who died, and to go further to help people on the Gulf. Then they should all be put into rubber waders and be forced to clean up the Gulf Coast until the job is done, to wash the wildlife, and to be "down there" with the people who's lives they didn't care about.

Of course this will never happen. Because the Democrats and Republicans are bought and paid for. They are controlled totally by our corporations and banks. Their opinion of the people in New Orleans? Or the people along the Gulf Coast? Of the citizens who have been sick and/or died in Katrina and on DeepWater Horizon? F**k you, you're not rich enough for us to give a damn.
