The "Debt Crisis."

So we have been played, the entire nation, both those who say they are Democrats and those who say they are Republicans. Our President and the Congress have been playing a great drama for the past several weeks called "The Debt Ceiling Crisis" where if the Federal Government doesn't come up with a way to raise the debt ceiling then we'll default on our bills, and as President Obama said "We don't know when Social Security checks will go out."

A drama in three parts.

1) Invoke fear. Our debts won't be paid. Social Security checks won't go out. Wall Street will crash. Interest rates will go up. The American people will suffer.

2) Create conflict. The Republicans won't compromise. The Democrats won't compromise. The Tea Party won't compromise. What will we do??? The people are afraid, help us!

3) The last minute save. Now the President and Congress have come to a solution at the last possible minute. The nation is saved! Sighs of relief, Asian markets going up, crisis averted, the people saved, it's all good!

But it isn't. In fact the President, the Democrats and the Republicans have just pulled the biggest scam on the American people ever. They have created a plan that does absolutely nothing for the sinking Middle Class, the 19% under and unemployed, the quickly growing poor.

What it does do is absolve the rich and corporations of paying their fair share, it protects them from tax increases, from the dissolution of tax loopholes, and protects their negative tax status by continuing all their breaks. It does work to cut more and more from programs that the people need, from schools, from libraries, from civil programs.

What it doesn't do, is that it does nothing to create jobs nor stop the corporations from shipping them overseas. It does nothing to save the thousands of people who are losing their homes every month and the hundreds of thousands losing their jobs every month.

It does nothing to create income nor save the country's people from losing more and more. It does nothing to bring money back to the people, only more to those who do not need it at all. It does nothing to help those suffering without healthcare, without food, without medicine, without the ability to even try to get back on their feet.

But they made it look like it was the greatest deal ever, hard fought, and their constituents should be proud of them.

What we should be though is furious. What we should be is feeling completely betrayed. What we should be is feeling stupid.

Stupid for letting them continue to be in office. Stupid for allowing the Democrats and Republicans to continue to be the playmates of the corporations and the rich. Stupid for keeping this two Party system in power. Stupid for not seeing our great, amazing, free nation turning into a divisive, broken, financially ruined nation devolving into a Corporatist State where the motto will be "Work will set you free."

History does repeat itself. And we are becoming the perfect example of it.
